Charlie Hatmann

Charlie Hatmann is a young choreographer from Barcelona and now based in London. He started creating works for State Opera Stara Zagora and later worked as a freelance and creating concept videos exploring and expressing his movement, ideas and stories through dance. Although his language is classical based, his work is fresh and includes versatility in movement, as he has been dancing in different companies in different cities, and learned from many professional artists in different backgrounds such as classical and neoclassical ballet, hip-hop and old styles of street dance, jazz, contemporary and tap. His work is characterized by being musical, precise, and much related to the present moment, using influences from the past and present, but he likes to explore the movement beyond on the choreographic aspect. It is also very energetic and dynamic and it has a kind of athletic rhythm. His work has joy and fun. He likes to use stories in his dance and give a human meaning to the pieces he creates.
